RB's motivation: I'M WIGGIN OUT BRO jk puns but seriously never again

Well I am never trusting Mallats again. Seriously wasted 50$ on wigs I can NOT use and can not return AT AT ALL. I know I should have tested out these things and thought more on my decision. But then I almost feel like they should have helped me make my decisions better like, "oh what costume are you putting together? Don't buy this then" They didn't exactly steal my money but ya know, no returns wtf.

Anyway here they are. I wanted to get a wig for Fluttershy and Notepad and I did not get them
This one looked promising, much shorter than I expected but I thought okay, 32$ should get somewhere
See and it looked like nice quality for a skin piece in the netting and extra volume around the head
And it turned out to be so fucking short. Like fluttershy isn't asking for a lot but I know she has long hair. Like it wouldn't have been a huge problem expect it has no hair in the back. My neck felt cold there was so little hair in the back
Now onto the white one. I was already uneasy taking it out of the bag here. It didn't need to be that long, just curly
And it didn't even seem that much curlier than the picture
And then I put it on and got mad, like really mad. As you can see in the picture. It made my head look so damn bug and the bangs were so thick and just ALL WRONG. I know I wasn't just cutting them wrong, they were made wrong..... It looks like a fucking elvira wig

So I said fuck it, I got to find a way to resell these things... So i turned it into an elsa wig. Just took the holding spray and an hour in my garage listening to music and sort of vented.

I need to work on my french braiding more, seriously it keeps comign out pretty loose....

On better wig news I got the pearl wig done. It'll need some got to be gel, but for only hairspray a ghetto wig stand, gravity, and the book of morman soundtrack I think it turned out well.

Bad pic of the front
Nice DBZ pic of one of the sides, this was all taken at 3 am. So only difficult selfies

And another pic of the side. I know I'm goind to have to do something bc it won't cover my dark hair fully. Like maybe putting in extensions or spraying my hair down with yellow spray before putting the wig on. We'll work it out

So to end this post here's some pics of Diva looking like a desk hooker in a Harley Quinn test run. Thank god she got a better skirt to complete the look more

Tata for now lovelies. SRP will hopefully update on Geek.kon bc I couldn't be there to enjoy it
(I'm in college and the dorm life is great)

RB's motivation: Can I drop out and braid hair forever?

Look at me already scared to go back to school. Listen ya'll if you can not pass art school, I don't know how much more faith will be left for you

But I think I would be happy on 3 strange occupations
1. chiropractor
2. miniature cat figurine maker
3. styling elsa wigs

I think I did pretty well with Diva on styling a cheap 20$ party city synthetic wig from a bag. The original was just a platinum white, fringe bang wig, appropriately called a glamorous wig.

We just used extra hold freezing hair spray and cheap bobby pins to hold the bangs back.

Now I would have layered the bangs more to give the whole flame look. As the fringe bangs can only create so much. But I wasn't allowed to cut the wig, bc all white wigs are much thinner compared to other colored wigs.

Not the best french braid I could do but gets the idea across. With more volumized bangs it would help cover the lack of pleats. Or really with the bangs they might add pleats

But I still really love the profile view it had. Such a beautiful start to what could have been perfection

Also would have added more extensions in the back to give the full volume and tail like presence elsa's braid has

Good thing I don't have to worry about it though. Because Diva decided she didn't like the bangs.........it now sits on the wig head, braided but with the blunt bangs. And I just can't stand it looking so much like studio ghibli sophie rather than reaching it's full potential.......

But whatever, I'll just conceal, don't feel. Don't let them know...........well now they know

RBs motivation: Okay willy nilly impulsy cosplays....notepad/kugelmugel update

Been listening to so much 80s, just like 8th grade again. DON'T YOU BRING YOUR LOVE DOWN, ALL NIGHT. Yaz is beautiful.

But still so watched Bee and Puppycat, Thankyou Kibi. I'm gonna be saying this for the rest of my life probably.

Found out lulu will be doing Bee(girl) for Daisho and I thought I had my lineup of Notepad-Rwby-Fluttershy. But I think I'll be adding Puppycat instead of fluttershy. Who knows I might jsut pile one on the other just because scheduling with other people always sucks. But it'll be fun. And it might be good for me to be just as erratic as some people and their cosplays (no offense to people that do plan 5 in one day nonproffessional) It's just not my thing right now. Too much UNNEEDED stress for me....

But yeah get back to positive here. So far this is my design because it's puppy cat, I don't want a huge project especially at such a surprise. It's mainly going to be a jacket, leggings and my trusty hiking boots. Going to reuse my kugelmugel wig as a somewhat genderbent version. More just young and edgy like I like. Because I imagine him as a either an old man or very princely (maybe like Kuro from Project K/Project.Gay). Most of it will be jsut detailing. Like adding brown tea bags on the pigtails because siamese. And KB gave my the awesome idea for masking tape/paperbag eye brows.

What I love about this cosplay is I get be grumpy cat, without actually being grumpy cat. And also gibberish. I've been breaking out into gibberish since 5th grade. NOW IT'S USEFUL :D

Next is the list of impulse cosplays I'm planning. Won't explain in full now but a somewhat genderbent peppermint butler. I just really want to experiment with a red and white wig for this. Thinking of turning a bucky fever wig (wisconsin) into a slick back mullet. Everything else will be details as well

Then there's the mookie000 bunnies. Honestly I'd love to do them all. But I think right not my first priority would be her LSP just because, I will never be too fat or too thin for her. Also purple leggins I already have!

Then I really love her Lady Rainicorn, and as a character I would probably do her over any other princess just because she's so bad ass and fun.
And then finally in the more mainstream cosplay ideas, I always look for FP when it comes AT princesses cosplaywise (Marceline still fav but FP makes a close second in princesses) And look at this adorbs bunny.

Obv. She's done more but those I don't feel like posting since I don't think I'll ever want to cosplay them in the future. I'll have to like really build up my self for Marceline, want to do her beauty justice.

Then in the actual realm. I so far fixed the Kugel Mugel vest. It originally had one awk button that held nothing but boob shame. So I actually sewed on more. First time adding buttons to anything. Used a man proof sewing site for reference, because I know myself. Diff. buttons? Eh DGAF it's ART

Don't have pictures yet but so far I made real progress on notepad, well I think. I am becoming very savvy with the machine, fast learner, no fear, no time, ultimate motivation. My seams are a little metrosexual. But hell did I hem the shit out of a bar napkin. SO DAMN CLOSE TOT HE EDGE YOU COULD MAKE A SEX SOLO ON THAT SHIT.

I think I'm really coming along on her and I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED FOR SHIT
-also no more comic con chicago cuz fuck that BUT I GOT TO GO TO COMIC CON MADISON WITH MY DAD HOORAY!!!-

Pyrhha cosplay WIP- Cosplay in review

Ok so, I've been putting this off and its lame. It is so lame of me.... but I really liked my finished cosplay but it was next to impossible to walk in.
No joke, elevators where a night mere for me at Anime Milwaukee. I was so panicked because people would get very close to me.

So issues i had.
- Neck piece choked me.... no really, I was in serious pain
- My thigh pieces didn't fit me perfectly and so they fell... a lot... like I couldn't walk. I got cuts too..... oh gosh, typing this out makes me realize why I didn't want to write this...
- Oh ya, lost one of my gloves in the elevator.... I was also upset because the gloves where not the right color(it bugged me because I wanted them to be brown).

So ya.... It was sort of a disaster for me. I felt like kind of a failure considering real life wasn't going to well. I was losing a really good job so I knew I wouldn't be able to fund many more cosplays for a while and I really wanted to do a good job. After this I felt like a failure in general, my own life wasn't going too well and my cosplaying was going just as good.
Not to mention my weight... I'm not saying everything would have been fixed if I weighed less but it was disappointed in myself. I tend to eat everything when I'm really sad and it is so incredibly bad for my long term physical health. The pictures just made me feel even more disappointed in myself not only about my physical health but how I had failed in making the cosplay wearable.

So ya, I put this off..... I'm such a wimp like that..... but I have to start facing all of my problems head on. No more putting it all off, I need to get over all of this and start moving on. Another job will come and everything will work out some way.

Here's some pictures....

Thanks for reading... it was just something I had to get out there. Now I feel like I can actually start doing stuff for the blog again.

Cosplay WIP: RWBY's Pyrhha- armor trial and error

playing with my lovely new wig
Hey duckies! So lately over here at SRP we are booking it to get done with our cosplays set to debut next month at Anime Milwaukee. And guess what? We are no where near done and we have to face finals before it so yay! Either ways, I'm going to document a bit of my journey to accomplish my biggest challenge, Pyrhha from Rooster Teeth's RWBY.

So far the corset is almost done but needs a few touch ups, the boning, and the grommets to lace up in the back.

But that isn't what is troubling me. It is her countless accessories and armor. Not many have opened up and shared what they did to make it. Except one person who showed that they used worbla... which is very far out of my price range.

My solution? I ran around Michaels, Joannas, a local craft store, and the dollar store. And I think its turning out very well.

Instead of investing in Worbla I found some cheap foam board at the dollar store. Its cheap in the sense that it is pretty thin compared to real foam board.

Good news is that because it is thin it bent and curved very well and retained the shape.

To achieve the gold look I actually didn't paint it or spraypaint it. I found big sheets of gold looking paper at the local craft store.
1) first I traced the shape of the armor.(BTW's use an exacto knife)
2) I made sure to add a half inch to the traced image
3) Cut it out(make sure it has the extra half inch)
4) I used a glue runner(like the one scrap bookers use) to hold the paper and foam board in place temporarily.
5) Made relief cuts so I could fold over the extra
6) hot glue gun everything that you folded over to the foam board. Don't hot glue gun any of the parts that aren't folded over.

And there you go, I did the same with the smaller parts. The ball looking thing didn't work out so I'm going to paper mache one that fits better.

So far its looking good. My range of motion is better than expected but it isn't great. I can only walk so fast but hopefully that will change with the addition of high heels

Thrift store's and cosplays?

RB Simms and I are big supporters of tearing apart thrift stores before you make a cosplays. You can get anything from shoes, belts, accesories, patterns and base stuff to alter.

Yes 'hero's of cosplay' would hate us for it but honestly its a really good way to go. Especially on a budget and low time. Still you tend to get good results if you put your sewing machine to work(best examples my Asami and Rb's meat dress).

Rb and I will be doing a video discussion about our thrift stored cosplays and some tips and tricks to getting it all looking very good and some shopping tips too! So stay tuned for that(maybe a same day edit).
