RB's motivation: Vanellope tights, 3rd times the charm?

I am currently awaiting to take off the finished tights and scrub paint off myself. But while I wait, let me write up my experience. Surprised it took me this long to realize, Oh I can paint things,........art school will be terrible or great for my common sense

So here is the start off. I taped up my legs to get clean edges and an idea of the size for each stripe, really I should know by now. But beware I taped my thigh and upper calf too tight and it really affected the painting process. Because I was worried about cutting off circulation (hypochondriac senses at too early) I did not wait long enough for things to dry and you will see.

 Started the first stripe. I had to use acrylic paint b/c I forgot to buy white fabric paint at the store, didn't think I could vani done on a insomnia night int he week so only got black, purple and red. PURPLE OVER WHITE? What sickness do I have now? SO that affected things. Because acrylic is plastic and dries easilly it's really thick and does not cling to fabric too well.

 As you can see hear. I tore off the tape after ten minutes, because I don't want to end up like house MD. And here I am stretching it off myself. B/c with thin fabric and heavy paint, it'll seep through and stick to your skin. But it's fine, bc it will wash off bc it's plastic. (ACRYLIC IS VERSATILE GET OVER IT OILS) But still it's plastic so if it doesn't bond and let dry it will stretch and crack. Can't really see here, but let's say this will help with the glitch effect of her character. It's much worse on the second stripe.

So I was impatient and decided to take on the black part as well. I used the smaller fabric paint here bc it was thinner. And I will tell you, getting the first few spritz out of that thing was BAD. It sprayed my like a baby penis, so be careful, always point the tips down to your plate or fabric. IT WILL GET YOU UNLESS YOU TAME IT.

 Here they are all painted up while the last dries. I decided to wait the last guy out bc he wasn't wrapped to tight which was good. I waited a whole Strokes album for him to finish and it wasn't too bad. It had the same crackling but the last stripe is kind of covered by boot so it's fine.

 Here they are all finished. You can't tell the flaws from this resolution but they are there and I accept them way better than half finished sewing. PANTS ON THE GROUND BECAUSE FUCK IT NOBODY'S AWAKE I DO WHAT I WANT

I will update on the taking off process. I'm never going to wash these but I can assure the paint will stay
forever as a stain.

And here we go. Here they are after peeling them off my legs, hanging on the lamp. Before I realized the paints gonna stick to itself. ANd so I have to stretch them....into a really weird shape

Here's what fucking happens when you paint leggings. It's not surprising at all. just if you have sensitive skin. I recommend being over precocious and taping napkins to you skin under the areas you're going to paint. So that way it'll stretch more and just stain the napkin. Not your eczema. Because I had to scrub for a good ten minutes with lotion and water, wasn't too bad for the painting I did. 

Strange shapes indeed bro. I swear it's not a bong. This is the part where I need mannequins. I had to improvise with a whole paper towel roll and a roll of duct tape. The middle is being a bitch and sticking to himself but hopefully it'll get better. These are forever going to be the fragile fankenstein tights

RB's motivation: Update post sumemr photoshoot and life

I just moved the desk I had my ancient 90s tv on to the desk at my bed. Let's just say my life is improving as I move out. Or I'm getting the best ideas at too late at night

Why did I never think of this ultimate lazy technique?

Kind of should ahve updated this like a week ago. But SRP had our mass summer photoshoot. Not everything was photographed but I think it was giant improvement since KIBI'S FUCKING BACK. Jesus I missed that woman. And she brought a car, amongst other things. But still I got all my shit done. Including this monstrosity.

My legging strategy worked as well as it should. Now this stitching looks like shit, but for one of my first ever experiences sewing on a machine my own cosplay, it is the shiniest turd I'll ever defend besides Obama.

Also got the dark green stocking together amidst some real frankestein hybrid conditions of broken machine sewing and hand sewing while I'm wearing it. I was so scared to walk around in these but they work. I think after the monstrosity of the stripe stocking transfusion I will be painting on the white stripes in the future just so I never have to mess with them again. -painter perks-

And most definitely favorite outfit of the day. Forgive the strange face. I needed to show this meat dress because I made the whole fucking thing myself with just raw emotion, tye dye and hand sewing. I realize I will never look anything close to Gaga so the white wig will forever be a kugelmugel wig and I'm fine with that.

I felt so good in this shit I wore it to a chinese restaurant. And ate in it. Because it's that fucking comfortable, besides turning my armpits and fingernails red.

Besides cosplay, almost my entire room is just boxes now. I'm really excite so far. I've donated so much to savers and goodwill, they recognize me. I think this good karma is like just coming back because I just won something on behalf of The cosplay fox

RB's motivation 2014: Vanellope leggings REDO 1

So i've never been too satisfied with the way I had one cheek hanging out of my leggings the first day of GK. As well as worrying about the stripes falling down from the other leg. All in all these leggings were a good first try. But now I really want to redo them, and I'm determined to try and do them by TOMORROW/SUNDAY. Because at Geekplastique if you go in cosplay on their anniversary sale you get a discount, so good motivation I think for something that would be getting pushed down on the list otherwise

So here I have the old leggings since the good half is salvageable. I'm taking the stripes and pinning them to the half. I actually wore them while pinning to get the stretching. It was horrible to take off, little scared what it's going to be like to sow them later. 

Theme of this post. LETS GET RB A SEWING MACHINE!!!

So here's the new stockings I bought from a portland sex shop! Since nobody sells this color in stripes! Still managed to not fit. I'm a petite person......this should not be that difficult..... YET IT IS SO MUFFIN TOP THIGHS HOORAY.

Another pic of the old leggings with the pinned stripes. See the lime green portion, how it's on my thigh not my butt where it's supposed to be. See also how they used to be tights, and had to cut a hole to shove my foot through to become leggings so they could be somewhat wearable

 So new stripe, cut off the elastic so blood will not be cut off from the rest of my leg. And attached it to the  top/waist part of the old scrap

 And here they are all pinned together hanging from a chandelier like Sia. A little scared of the difference here, but tried to give a lot of pillow space because I don't want the same mistake again. Hopefully it's just a little stretch and not one saggy buttcheek

 Here's the close up of the pins. ironic how I cut them off to start only to sew them back together again. Like medallion twins or some shit

 And some extra. Didn't think to grab a seam ripper when I was already running up the block at midnight to tricia's for fabric scissors and pins. I'm a mess.
So had to just cut a portion of lime green to seperate the old to attach to the new. I give you a labia, I think.

RB'S motivation, 2014.

RB here and I guess this will be a yearly thing but the cosplay season has officially started for me now! I don't really get to go to conventions much anymore because of my commitment to my job and life complications but since I'm going to college I get a little bit more freedom. Like I only really have been able to go to geek.kon and once to comic con chicago in the last two years. So this season will be a whole new ride.

This time I'm prepping for
-possibly Comic Con Chicago
-Anime Milwaukee, seriously haven't been in 2 years it's weird
-Daisho, first time going;. no idea what to expect.

I'm always worried about money. Notably on spending it on things I want like souvenirs. But I'm going to try and enjoy myself bc geek.kon has been a lot of sacrifice sometimes in the past two years. And as the only con in two years it's a little sad.

BUT I LOVE COSPLAYING TOO MUCH. So here we go, the list so far to be spread between these three cons.
-update vanellope (mainly redo the licorice, and the leggings, and maybe add more candy barrets)

-RWBY (Ruby rose)

- Pearl (Steven Universe) (srsly look at how much stuff you can get just from forever 21. Love how much you can tell her design is a product of post 2012)

-Don't hug my I'm scared NOTEPAD (design by mookie000 on tumblr, love her so much)

-elsaba, (Elsa of FROZEN +Elphaba of WICKED) my own original design and alterations though (This is an example) (Definitely vibing the whole spider webs for the snowflake cape)

- And finally FLUTTERSHY, been planning her since like tenth grade.

Thinking of this so far

-Comic con (Vanellope) one day, easy, disney for western con, not to hot in summer

- AMKE (Elsaba +Pearl) worried cuz it'll be in Wisconsin winter.....brr gloabl warming vortex plz not again

Things might switch around, new fandoms might appear but so far, I finally have might fluttershy sweater in my hands so I'm leaning towards it will happen. 

WHO KNOWS MAYBE I'LL LEARN TO WEAR CONTACTS, OMG
