RBs motivation: Itty bitty ruby rose details that give me anxiety still

So I felt okay about my ruby rose at Daisho, i was one of the few there surprisingly BUT the one thing that constantly bothered me was my fucking belt. It was incomplete and IT KEPT DOING THIS SHIT ON ME

I really wanted it to just stay like this, like in the show but it didn't so I figured out a way to try and replicate that effect.

VELCRO (stick on precisely) Just stick some on the belt as well as the waist cincher and there we go. Work to comfortable level and use amount to desire though

Also her pack. I had had this idea for a while but only got around to it two weeks before AMKE. Old pencil box here

Now cut into pieces. I only need the button part so ic ut off the bottom of the pink.

But I also need the bottom and the top of the clear part, so I cut out the middle. Here we are snug as a bug. But there is also the scare of the top flying off so pully system

hot glue string parts to clear and pink part so when I open the top it catches and I can remember to push it down immediately.

Spray painted it, and attitude it with hot glue and more velcro that way when packing away I can detach it easily. Same went for the flower

NOTE; I only had an art store to go to with nice fancy spray paint so IT SUCKS for actual props. For a silver color, use a PRIMER because it sticks and that's what it's made for. Plus that's probably CHEAPER. Go to the hardware store for spray paint, never art stores

So last i was really upset about was I didn't have bullets so i ordered some online. They are plastic toys

So they are light weight, but really cool was they were detachable so I could take out the excess easilly

As well as be able to spray paint them individually. Now again, MY STUFF WAS SHIT for what I needed to do. So I had a hard time, waiting for the stuff to dry as well as later that night trying to fit them back into their carrier

I had to shove them back in. The spray paint again made a second skin too thick for the carrier and it flaked all off. I had to go in and just repaint while the shit was in the carrier, exactly what I wanted to avoid. But it looked okay for the con, no one called it out. Plus now I didn't have to worry about them falling out

As soon as I got them attached my worries melted away for a good while. It was the very last thing for the whole convention and I was just ecstatic. Two straight weeks of just cosplay work had finally paid off. There was school but yeah I was a little free finally

Also nice selfies. Emma did my makeup! For no reason! She was a cosplay mother that day

And here was our group for the RWBY meet up which I thought was AMAZING.

Emmie was having some serious sensory and fandom uncomfortable overload but I was real happy we got this nice little ladybug selfie in.

RB's motivation: Elsaba hair, tease and braid for your life

Alright so Elsa's fucking hair was the part I was most excited about, and probably the most tricky part for sure

SO this was my loose french braid, okay but no volume or length at all

So I needed assistance of hair extensions on my side. I could only get 14 inch for my budget at the time, for anyone that can actually afford always go for the 20 inch or longer. The pack I got provided quite a few/ lot more than I needed so yeah. Don't forget to buy your clips to sew in as well!

So here's my hair when I started, it's pretty voluminous, wavy and damaged so yeah, start with that and build onto it

I have grown out bangs so this is super idea for this tutorial/process. Tie them away with a clip or hair tie first.
Put in your extensions by how many layers you want. I parted my long hair into two layers with the first set of hair extensions on the bottom, like under all my hair completely, then one extension layer above the bottom layer of hair. Then brush and blend together. Then start french braiding, or get your friend to do so.

I know how to myself and none of my roommates want to do this for me. Once you got your braid, stretch out parts to get more volume.

Now the fun part is hairspring all your bangs back. I used a mix of freezing spray and got to be hair gel. I was really obsessed with eh concept art work

And I was really into trying to get actual frozen spikes but I just didn't have enough volume in test runs

Really loved the side braid when it was working though, I was really stressed out and couldn't fully tell when it was working or not. Just more of lie, okay i know the process now, I think I'm done for the night

Also I was kind of just blind spraying to make certain ends stay down

First time testing out the green makeup. This is the shitty party city stuff. Their quality depends on color, greens are always the most concentrated I feel, just green straight out of a tube is always gonna be super pigmented so I used barely any and it STAINED ME. Like I was stained for days after the convention. That's cuz that shit is oil based go damn. But I knew I had to out it under the sleeves because it looked like a very weird transition without it

But good thing Homestucks educated me about SNAZAROO water based face paint that stays on so good, seals well, and DOES NOT STAIN YOUR SKIN

On the day of I was putting on makeup for probably a good hour or so, being green. It was a weird feeling literally, like the makeup was a very strange sensation when sealed. Like I didn't feel anything but other people felt my hands and they felt very very weird they said. I used the oil based on my chest, arms, back, and hands just to try and get full coverage but it was layered so thick that I actually almost got stuck putting on my costume from the tight sleeves, as well as the second skin forming from my stupidness

I was pretty pleased that day with the hair

I never got to do a makeup TEST so that was a fun experiment in stress, con day of.

But look at all these beautiful selfies during a not very interesting panel

I was trying to document and their faces just couldn't resist phtotbombing. Overall I had a really stressful friday night but atleast I felt fabulous and will say I will wear it again for sure

shitty picture on my phone at the end of the night (1-3 am is)

MAYBE I CAN TRY A MORE WESTERN CON, SAY COMIC CON CHICAGO HMM??

RB''s Motivation: Puppy cat progress?

So it's been awhile. College is still weird and tiring. Life is still stressful and doesn't really make sense. IT FUCKING SNOWED YESTERDAY AND I'M PISSED. But on Friday some strange things happened. It finally hit me that Daisho was this coming weekend on the 21st as in Friday. So I started packing up all my shit. And I realized, I still didn't have my puppy cat stuff put together so I started on that.
I just really needed to do the eye brows and do a makeup test. Since he's all white I wanted to test out the white creme makeup, since i was going to have to use it for Notepad eventually anyway.
I got the idea for the eyebrows from Kibi who told me to make obnoxious large ones.
I folded over some masking take and cut them to shape, then painted them with acrylics.

Here's my pale ass face with some cheap ass creme makeup. I went subtle because ppc is a casual closet cosplay and this stuff is thin as fuck.

oh god worse lighting showing my greasy complexion. Them brows are real! I smoothed them down with this tutorial.
I also went in with eyeliner to get that soulless look. I might go lighter or none at all next time we'll see. I also did the nose as well. I really got to get some foundation to cover my brows completely. At first I didn't think I needed to since they would be covered but I know now

I added on the eye brows with body glue used for rhine stones and you can see the very edge of my brows peaking out

Aggressive selfie. I added some liner under my eyes as well to try and get the fill shape. I also tried to make it completely white and cover over my dark circles under my eyes. I also erased a lot of the nose because I felt it got too distracting but I went down to the mouth to get that full downturned frown.

At first I just wanted the makeup test but I got excited and put on the rest of the outfit: the jacket, bell, wig, and some throw on ears from a loveless cosplay. I'm going to make small brown ones and a tail later but this was the only thing available at the time

But this is basically the look I'll be going with at Dash

All the cheap shit I used: black, brown, white(beige) pencil eye liner. Foundation, white creme face paint, body glue, blue stick, rubbing alcohol wipe, (disregard maxi pad), mashing tape, paint, time and effort and some strange motivation

And in other news Emmie gave me my Ruby Rose waist cincher. It straightened my out a little tot much for no boning. Waiting for the lacing to come at the con

Here's one of the reasons nothing has gotten done. I live for observational drawing. That is the only reason I go to school sometimes is to swim through the bullshit for that small bit of confidence when I do a drawing and I realize why I came here.

Here's the other reason. I GOT A JOB FINALLY and craigslist didn't help one bit other than bring me A LOT of rejection. I finished day two today (11-16-14) and I'm already stressed. These past two days haven't even been busy and tomorrow is supposedly to actually be busy. It's not a secret I'm not really looking forward to it. But I'm going to try and trudge through it even when it gets rough

At least I got two free sandwiches so far. And the staff seems really fun
