Yes I finally finished the dress! Now this was the second dress I made this season without a pattern. I used a combination of previously seen diy videos on youtube, a pinterest post, a visual aid in the form of clothes I own, common sense and my own dumb luck.
Now note how none of that said I used a tape measure. And confession time... use a freaking tape measure!!! I wasted a lot (really a lot) of time making it bigger when in fact I didn't need to.
Now I used a video made for the free peoples blog on how to make a diy corset out of a tshirt. I simply traced a very worn tshirt that was streched out already but still make it a bit bigger(1 to 2in) for a bit of wiggle room. The shirt should be cut to the length you need it. I need it to hit at my hips so I cut it a little longer then that.
Now the skirt I took the left over material, a yard or so and I cut it to a good length and then I sewed a straight libe at the top and gathered it so it would fit the top nicely. Then of course I sewed it together.
Used this for it http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2012/05/sewing-tip-making-and-attaching-gatheredruffled-fabric.html
For the sleeves I used a bubble skirt tutorial and meaured out the arm opening. I just added like 2 inches to be safe.
Used this as a referance for the sleeve http://www.simplesimonandco.com/2012/03/bubble-skirt-tutorial.html
Honestly I love it. I had a similar apron to hungary's so I took a good look at it and coppied it. So in other words I took measurements and I traced parts onto the white fabric I used.
