Making Cosplay Makeup Tutorials Confession.
I noticed that S.R.P. has yet to really start in on this project and after taking a look at my personal youtube account I realized I should take the first plunge and write the first confession. Lets see how this turns out.
I like to do make up tutorials for a lot of the cosplays I do. I end up doing a lot of female characters so i get to have a lot of fun with this. Recently I did a makeup tutorial for my latest cosplay, Asami from Legend of Korra. I really liked being able to do Asami and she is one of the rare characters that is draw with makeup, or at least eye shadow on. It was a lot of fun doing her simple smokey eyes and red lips but it wasn't so fun when i actually got down to editing the video. Since I have not done many tutorials I tend to experiment on the format. Let me recap my misfortune with making/editing my make up tutorials.
The first one I did was a simple silver eye shadow look for C.C. I spoke in real time and started the video off with only one eye done. Then I completed the look on camera. This was a good way to go since I didn't need to do anything that special with my foundation. I took away from this video a few things. One, don't talk to much. Two make sure you have your thoughts together. Overall though, it was an ok video.
The next video I was excited to do was for Luka, the vocaloid. Now this is where my misfortunes started. I was still fairly new to Luka and hadn't quite gotten into specific looks for her. I would experiment like crazy. That ended up working against me. One day I sat down to film the video and I ended up sitting there for a while because I had forgotten what I need to do for Luka. I think in the end I made up a look and stuck with it, edited it and the posted it. It was a really bad video. It wasn't a very good video at all since I didn't have much instructions or insight about makeup for Luka. Safe to say, the video will be redone soon.

The lesson to take away from this? Write a damn script. Or at least compile ideas you have for the video on a piece of paper before you film. Even if its not a makeup tutorial video it still helps to write out what you want to say, what things are important to take away from the video and notes on how to edit the video. So far some lesson's have been learned but there are still many to learn. Any one out there have any suggestions for me when I edit/make my make up tutorials?
